Confirmation

What is Confirmation?

Confirmation is one of the rites of the Lutheran faith.

In our baptism, our parents, baptismal sponsors, and congregation promise to live among God's faithful people, to bring them to the word of God and the holy supper, to teach them the Lord's Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten Commandments, place in their hands the holy scriptures, and to nurture them in faith and prayer, so that your children may learn to trust God, proclaim Christ through word and deed, care for others and the world God made, and work for justice and peace.

Over three years, at weekly Confirmation classes, our Confirmation students will spend time learning about God's Word and the teachings of Martin Luther to continue growing in their faith. At the end of their three years, the 8th-grade Confirmation students participate in the Rite of Confirmation at the 10:30 AM service the Sunday after Easter as they affirm their baptism and the promises their parents, baptismal sponsors, and congregation made for them.

When does the Confirmation Class Meet?

We meet on Sunday evenings from 6 - 8 PM

Who can participate in Confirmation?

Confirmation is for students in 6th-8th grade. Because Confirmation is an affirmation of the student's baptism, it is a requirement that they be baptized before beginning Confirmation classes. Contact Pastor Jon if you have questions!
